Thing 1 & Thing 2

March 2nd was a day full of reading and Dr. Seuss themed activities. We had several guest readers throughout the day and read some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books including; Wacky Wednesday, The Lorax, The Cat and the Hat, Horton Hatches an Egg and many others. We measured different Dr. Seuss characters during math and finished the day with an awesome edible activity...Thing 1 & Thing 2 cupcakes!!

Dental Health Month

To celebrate the culmination of dental health month, Spalding Drive Charter had a special visit from Children's Denistry. We were treated to a morning of magic tricks, puppet shows and an informative presentation about dental hygiene. The tooth fairy taught us some great tricks to staying healthy and sent us all home with a special goody bag to help keep our teeth clean. Don't forget to brush at least twice everyday!

Leaving for Senegal

This semester we have partnered with Ian Hennessee. Ian is working with the Peace Corp and recently recieved an assignment in Senegal, Africa. Each week, Ian has visited our class and read a book about African wildlife and/or people. In a few weeks, we will start corresponding with Ian via blog as he begins his work in Senegal. We are hoping to become pen pals with another elementary class in the village he is stationed in.

Last week we got a special treat! To culminate Ian's visits to our classroom, he brought his Banjo and taught us songs about animals. We can't wait to hear about all his adventures!

Yoga Class

Once a month our class gets a special kid's yoga lesson from RuthAnn Aukamp. We have learned lots of great poses such as child's pose, mountain pose, down dog, plank and tree pose. Yoga helps us relax, stretch and get ready for a day full of learning. We are working through the "Grounded" yoga series and are trying to complete all of the poses in each section. We can't wait until our next lesson!
